Memory Lane

Okay, I admit it, I stole this idea from a friend (I even copied her picture and title), but it sounds fun.

Here are the directions:

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments.

Dear oh dear Jan, we have some crazy memories! But I must say that you were the best "boss" ever because you were also everyone's friend...you were PERFECT at your job. I'm SERIOUS. I actually looked forward to staff meetings because you made them so fun!! I remember that fun party at your house, I think Savanna loved the stuffing out of your kitty. I remember us freaking out over my psycho residents and then the 14 day training...how we loved to hate it but I have SO many good memories of you from that. Such fun times! Definitely the best worst job I ever had!

I just loved catching up on your blog - That beautiful portrait of your girls is just breathtaking!

As far as a memory - one of my favorite with you was at the contract renewal openhouse, when we were just sitting out in the lobby, talking about so many things. I am sure you don't even remember, because it really wasn't about anything too important, but it really meant a lot to me!

Hmmm,a favorite memory would have to be the time we folded you up in the hide-a-bed and couldn't get you out.
Or wait, maybe the time I punched you in the face on accident because I was trying to see how brave you were.
No, no. Actually I think it was the time we took Beem's to the Logan festival thingy and had FUNNEL CAKES!
Ah, memories....

I got one! I got one! How 'bout the time we played hide-and-seek in the dark in your new apartment, in college. Ooh, or the time when you had a brain tumor removed from your knee. Or that one time when you made a joke that was funny. Or all the times you let me crash at your place between classes. And the time you taught my 3-month-old daughter to say "Hiiiiiiii". Ah, memories...

Okay, okay, there are too many to count. How about the residents who tried to get to Taco Bell THROUGH the window at the bottom of the stairs instead of through the door like everyone else. Or the dead bird hung in the stairwell. Or going off-roading in Gilbert. Or crying over dumb boys who were playing the field because their mothers told them that that's what they should do. Or your significant other nearly missing my wedding because of a fishing trip (was it a fishing trip?) Nah, Taco Bell for sure. You really were the best boss/twin ever. Thanks for all the memories!

I liked this last Monday. And Tuesday. I came home from work to see you smiling, content. I'll always remember you being quietly satisfied with who you are, and are becoming.

Oh yeah! And then there's the memory of how we first met. Try as I might, I can think of no other successful relationship that began with the threat of castration. :D

This is fun. Hmmm. I remember when you sweetly offered to watch my child for what seemed like all day. When I came into your home, your robot was cleaning the kitchen floor, and I thought, "wow! There's a smart woman."

How about the couple of evenings we spent simplifying the gospel? I loved those moments.

What a fun idea! Hmmm.....I remember the time you came to school with plum colored hair. It looked really cute, but I remember we were all like, "Wow! January dyed her hair!" I also remember the slumber party at your house when we watched My Fair Lady. It was the first time I had seen it all the way through. good times....good times...

Do hours and hours (and did I mention hours) sitting in the back and giggling through ResLife class count?

Our memory must be from a southern utah location with kids splashing and digging in the sand. Of course, that could have been a number of times.

My favorite memory is in the back of the bus, playing truth or truth. You were such a great boss!

WOW I knew you would post this and then what the heck would I say. I love so many memories with you. I love that you always knew me and never got mad every time I forgot or was late. I loved that you appreciated me. I loved the many times we cried together and had amzing talks. I loved the top of Mt. Logan and fires at your place. I loved trainings and working together. I just love you and have lots of great memories.

By the way I am excited for your move.

I think conferences are among my favorite memories with you. Although the day I came up right after Paul was born and we hung out in your living room and talked and napped was Gilead's balm for my soul.

I can't think about you without thinking about MASA office. How I miss MASA office. I remember your office decked out in sunflowers and ALWAYS perfectly clean and organized even during checkouts! I remember how some prankster would rearrange things on your desk and then it would end up on the agenda in staff meeting to not touch Jan's desk. I also think of big quilt projects going on with Thersea and Fager. Such good memories. You made that such a wonderful place to work. Thanks for being amazing Jan.

Hey Jan, It's Jeremy Olsen hijacking Natalie's profile. I always wanted to complete every task you assigned to me because you were always willing to do anything Natalie or I asked of you. I remember once when you sat down and showed me how to use Microsoft Outlook. It has improved my life immensely because I don't have to remember anything any more. I just tell it what I want to do and then the program nags me incessantly until I do finally listen. It's great.

Hey January! I'm going to have to agree with Jamie, I remember the "plum" hair. So much so that it inspired me to dye my hair plum! Thank you! Plum was a fantastic color =-) Love, Nicole (Durick) Kibalo

How about the (fairly) innocent memories of my childhood where you would come over and read Precious Moments Books with me? Or perhaps the day of your wedding where i was not only your youngest bridesmaid, but also the youngest person (in history) to embarrass your new husband over dinner? I think i choose the latter. ;}

I remember you helping me out of many difficult situations with crazy residents!

You always treated us underlings with respect, and gave us friendship. I really appreciated that.

I also remember seeing you with Beemer the first time. You were totally glowing with love for her and hubby. It brought tears to my eyes.

Too many to count, too long ago to remember them all...

But I think my all time favorite was our introduction to our RA when she busted us for having an "illegal" stop sign in our window with the cops in tow. Who would have thunk we would have come so far?
