Bird Man

While Mom and Steve were here we also made a trip to the World Bird Sanctuary and my adorable, oops I mean studly, husband demonstrated his bird handling skills. The pictures show him holding a female Kestrel, an Eastern Screech Owl (these little owls are so cute), a Redtail Hawk, and a male Kestrel. They all have names, but Ahenobarbus will have to fill them in wehn he comments.

On a side note, doesn’t he look great with a bird on his arm? And for those of you who know him well - check out that teaching pose!

The female AK (top two) is Sassy; the E. Screech Owl (female) is Acorn; the Red-Tailed Hawk (male) is Waggoner; and the male AK is Flash. It was fun giving everyone a little closer look at them than they usually get.

I'm jealous of his bird affinity and handling skills. None of the birds look nervous. Good man.

So....is the owl's red eye considered a deformity? Or is it considered a desirable trait? Is it like...infrared vision or something? ;)
