Growing Up

At 19 months I took Beemer to get her picture taken in this adorable pink dress. The pictures turned out to be some of my favorites.

So, at 19 months, I decided it was Audi's turn. I was a little apprehensive because her one-year pictures didn't go smoothly, but we pulled out the dress and decided to give it a shot. It turned out I had nothing to worry about. She did GREAT and, as you can see, the pictures are adorable.

** Why 19 months you ask? It doesn't seem to be a real "milestone" month. The real reason is because, with both girls, I thought about getting pictures at 18 months, and it took me an entire month to get around to doing it!**

Things That Go

Saturday morning, while Ahenobarbus mowed the lawn, I took the girls to a Parents-As-Teachers event - Things That Go. We saw some really cool vehicles. Everything from police cars with their lights on that you could climb in and out of, to the SWAT vehicle, to the Doritos truck giving out samples. Here are a few pictures from the day (sorry about the quality, I took them on my phone).

This one is just for Uncle Shane!

Yes, Audi was there - happily watching from her stroller.

Beemer's favorite - the driver also had dumdum suckers, which didn't hurt.

Back to School

Today was Beemer's first day of preschool. She was really excited to go back to school. She missed her classmates over the summer.

Here she is, all ready to go!

After school.

This is her "How happy does school make you?" face. Her special treat for the day was getting to see her teacher from last year for just a minute. It made her day!

After I took Beemer's picture this morning, Audi walked over and posed - just like big sis, as usual. But she is REALLY cute, and I can't resist taking her picture. Beemer elicited this adorable smile.

A Castle Fit for a Princess (or Two)

Last month, while perusing my Parenting magazine, Beemer found a Diapers.com ad with a picture of a large box turned into a castle. She immediately fell in love with the idea and requested a castle of her own. So, we tore out the page and she lovingly saved it dreaming of the day that a large enough box would arrive.

Then last week, we took some brownies to a new family in the neighborhood. They joked that they had nothing to offer us, but a large empty box. Beemer and I both got excited - it was perfect. So, we took it off their hands and began our project.

First, we (mostly me) cut out the top of the castle and the drawbridge. The next day while Audi was napping we painted the castle pink (with the leftover paint from the girls' room).

Then after waiting a whole day (it felt like forever for Beemer) we painted some details on.

Beemer was very meticulous in her brick painting.

When all the paint was dry and the structure was reinforced with a whole lot of packing tape, Beemer tried it out -- and fell in LOVE! She thinks its the greatest castle in the world. Of course, Audi loves it too - she thinks we made it just for her!

The final product. My favorite parts are the mural Beemer colored on the inside wall (we're medievalists in this house, we don't build castles without a tapestry or two) and the peephole she insisted on painting on the drawbridge.

This was such a fun project to do with Beemer - she is becoming quite the little artist!

Side by Side

I've gotten a lot of comments lately about my girls and how much they look alike. So, I thought I would post another side by side comparison. The picture on the left is Beemer at 18 months (please ignore her crazy, un-combed hair). The picture on the right is Audi at 18 months.
What do you think?

Beemer's Haircut

Those of you who know Beemer know that this is NOT her first haircut, in fact it's closer to her sixth (she was blessed with thick hair that grows quickly). But this was a momentous cut because it is the first one I have ever done. Beemer held really still while I cut and AT snapped some pictures.

She says she likes this picture best.

The final product - which is even in real life, I swear. Beemer is very happy with her the new length and loves to swish is around! Today for church I tucker her bangs over to the side and realized that somehow my four year old now looked six!

We couldn't resist taking a picture of the pile of hair - I cut off about seven inches!

Visitors!

Last week, one of my former staff members and now a very good friend brought her family to visit. We had a great time!! We fit in our obligatory trip to Spanky's Saturday night and then all went to church together on Sunday. (It was so great to have other adults to sit with in Sacrament meeting.) Our kids all got along great and we can't wait to get together again.

The adults

The kids (without Audi, who was sleeping)

The big girls spent Sunday afternoon swinging together and singing - it was adorable! Thanks for coming Sapps! Okay, everyone else, we are now taking reservations!
