Snoozin'

I'm not sure if it's that we are still recouperating from the change from Daylight savings;
or a family-wide growth spurt;
or if our lives are so exciting that both girls fall asleep whenever they slow down;
but lately we've had a lot of snoozing going on - and not necessarily in beds.

Last week, after dinner Beemer was playing blocks, and so was Audi, or so we thought. Ahenobarbus and I were deep in conversation at the table and turned around to find this:

Then a few nights later, Beemer asked to watch a movie. So, I set one up for her and sat Audi down with some toys. My phone rang, so I walked into the other room to talk so Beemer could hear her movie. When I got back I found this:

Then, last night, Beemer announced that she wanted to "rest" and went to get in bed. I didn't think much of it, she pretends to sleep once in awhile. But when she asked to lie in bed and watch a movie, I knew what was coming. So, I set her up with our portable DVD player, and when I checked on her 20 minutes later, she was sleeping peacefully. Audi followed soon after. Both girls were in bed and asleep by 7:30 (their bedtime is usually around 8 or 8:30). I got to relax and watch TV until Ahenobarbus got home. Don't get me wrong, it was awesome, but it also makes me laugh!

Beemer's Birthday Weekend

I know that time doesn't actually speed up and slow down, but there are distint times in my life that I would swear that isn't the case. For example, the nine months of pregnancy always feel like years, and the nine months after more like weeks. Last weekend as we celebrated Beemer's fourth birthday, it felt like I turned around and four years had passed.

The party started on Saturday. After much deliberation, Beemer decided to host a princess tea party for five friends. The girls all wore their favorite princess dresses to the party, and they all looked fabulous!

The girls drank pink milk and apple juice and ate PB&J sandwiches (shaped like hearts), strawberries, apples, pink princess yogurt and princess wands (pretzel rods drizzled with pink, purple and white almond bark). They thought it was so much fun to use Beemer's tea sets!

After tea, the girls gathered to open gifts. Each one was so excited to give Beemer the gift she had brought and to watch her open it! (Gotta LOVE this age!)

Then came the pink princess cake and pink princess ice cream. (Are you seeing the trend yet?) Beemer blew out her candles on the first try. (Later when I asked how the party went and if I had missed anything, she told me that we had forgotten for her to make a wish. Oops! Luckily, we could make up for that on Sunday!)

Here is a close up of the cake. I got the idea out of The Pink Princess Cook Book Beemer got for Christmas last year. It was a fun party, and pretty easy to pull off. The girls all had fun dressing up and being together, and Beemer was THRILLED with all of the pink!

Sunday was Beemer's actual birthday. So, after church I made her favorite dinner (meatballs, mashed potatoes, and corn). Then she got to open her gifts from Ahenobarbus and me, and her aunts, and grandparents. She got lots of very cool gifts!

Here she is in her new Belle dress, wearing her princess headband, and playing with her Sleeping Beauty Barbie and new Magic Fairy Lights Walking Horse (it can walk and bow by itself).

One of her favorite gifts is this doll from her Aunt Jodie. It plays the Sleeping Beauty song ("Once Upon a Dream"). Beemer calls it her little girl and it has gone just about everywhere with her since Sunday.

Sunday night, we had another cake so she could have a cake on her actual birthday and so that we could remedy the wish situation. After she blew out the candles, she told us her wish (not knowing that she wasn't supposed to share). Apparently, now she wants a carriage for her "little girl" and a horse costume so that she can pull the carriage!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEEMER!

My adorable girls!

It's picture time at our house.
I took the girls to JC Penney's and they did a fabulous job! The pictures are a bit fuzzy but you'll get the idea.
