A Trip (or two) to the ER

Friday afternoon, Beemer's fever got high enough (103.5) that I called our pediatrician. After hearing how long the fever had persisted, she recommended that I take Beemer to the ER. (Luckily, I was able to leave Audi with a neighbor as Ahenobarbus was still in Madison - see previous post). Beemer was such a trooper, even though she was so sick. She didn't want to leave my lap, but she did everything the doctors and nurses asked her to do and didn't cry once until they put in her IV.

In her gown with tigers, holding her tiger, right after the IV.

After five hours, a urine sample, chest X-Rays, and blood work, they gave her antibiotics in her IV and sent us home with instructions to come back today. We got home around midnight and I was able to get both girls settled down and in bed by 1:30. Beemer was so peaceful when she finally slept.

She woke up once at 5:30 with her fever high again, but after another dose of Tylenol, she was able to sleep until 10:00 a.m. When we went back to the ER this afternoon, we were told that her test results were all normal (a good thing), which meant that she just has a viral infection. I am relieved to know that I can just let the fever do it's job and run it's course. Beemer seems to be doing better tonight. She isn't back to normal, but she is moving around a bit and smiling occasionally, and I think that is a step in the right direction.

Ohhhh! Poor baby! She looks so sad. I'm glad her fever is reducing and all tests came back fine. Hope she gets better soon!

Oh no! That is so hard to see one of your babies not feeling well. I'm sorry she had to go to the ER, but I'm glad that she has made a turn for the better. (Hope you are able to get some rest, too!)

Poor sick Beemer. What a trooper. We've been very concerned (especially Tal) and are glad she's feeling better now, and "just a little sick."

That broke my heart, I am glad I am seeing these after she is better.
